
The College of the Ouachitas is a comprehensive public two-year college with a rich 40-year history of higher learning.
Each semester, College of the Ouachitas has approximately 1,600 students enrolled in certificate or degree programs and 300 high school students enrolled in the High School Career Center. In addition, more than 3,500 enroll in adult education classes each year. The College annually confers over 600 associate degrees, technical certificates, and certificates of proficiency. The College offers Associate Degrees in Arts & Sciences, Teaching and Business for students planning to transfer to a university. And, for students headed to the job market, COTO offers Associate of Applied Science Degrees and Certificates in over 30 career and technical fields.

The College's 40-acre campus with over 150,000 square feet of building space has experienced a doubling of its enrollment in the last ten years. Winning the five-year, $450,000 Achieving the Dream grant initiative helps the College continue the important work of improving student success rates, transfer rates, and graduation rates, which are now higher than most.
The Arts and Science Center features seven general purpose classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art instructional technology, a reading/writing lab, a math lab, and a general purpose computer lab.
The Registered Nurse (Associate Degree) and Licensed Practical Nurse (Technical Certificate) programs, the fastest growing on campus with over 200 students, boast a computerized simulation lab of robotic patients with complicated medical conditions to support nursing skills development.
The College's Cosmetology Program expanded their building size during Summer 2011 and completely redesigned the entire lab and educational facility for the program. In addition, they partnered with the CHI Environmental School Program to become one of only two Cosmetology programs in the state to offer CHI's complete line of products and instruments for educational purposes.
COTO's Business Department partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to host the Chamber of Commerce Breakfast on October 20th on campus for the first time. During the breakfast, the Business Department unveiled their Student Ambassador program. Students selected to participate will be paired with Chamber members in a service-learning capacity. Students will attend two Chamber meetings annually and will work with members to apply classroom theory to current business situations.
