Title: Iron Worker Machine Operator Department: Machine Shop

Utilizes an iron working machine to shear, notch, and punch holes in steel plate
Description of Duties and Job Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates machine equipped with separate sections that cut to length, punch, and notch or trim structural plates and shapes
- Positions specified punch and die set and turns pressure screws to lock them into ram and bed of machine to set up punching section
- Measures work piece with rule or tape or traces from template to locate holes or cutting lines as specified by work order and marks them with scribe, soapstone, or center punch
- Follows all safety rules and procedures
- Prompt and regular attendance
- Work in accordance to established safety rules and good housekeeping practices
- Work on additional equipment or tasks outside the job description as directed by the Plant Manager
- Perform all necessary quality checks during production and follow procedures when defective parts are discovered
- Complete quality control and daily production reports accurately
- Safety Sensitive Position
- Must be able to work independently
Physical Demands
- Regularly lift and or move objects 5 – 30lbs
- Frequently required to stand, and walk,
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers
Preferred Qualifications
- A high school diploma or Ged is required
- Wage Certificates accepted
- Must be capable of reading a tape measure down to sixteenths
