    JOB TITLE: Truck Driver

    DEADLINE TO APPLY:  12:00 noon, Friday December 5, 2025.

    SUMMARY:  Under the supervision of the Operations Controller or his/her designee, the Truck Driver is accountable for the safe and efficient transport of solid waste or other loads as directed. Drives front-loader and roll-off trucks, or trucks equipped with hydraulic dumping and grappling devices to collect and transport loads.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties as may be assigned.

    1. Drive trucks on designated routes to pick up, load, and unload trash, containers, materials, and recyclable material.

    2. Drive and transport load as directed in a safe manner.

    3. Securing and tarping of loads, sweeping out after unloading, and assist in loading as needed.

    4. May operate other equipment as directed.

    5. Fuel, oil, and perform safety inspection of the truck daily. Report any problems to Operations Controller. Record mileage and fuel consumption and other information as directed.

    7. Makes minor repairs and lubricates and regularly cleans out cab and washes mobile equipment. Assist at landfill, transfer station, or other location as directed.

    8. Must maintain good housekeeping on all equipment.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desirable and minimum three (3) years good driving record. The incumbent must possess valid Class B CDL, pass a road test, and successfully pass the Drug and Alcohol Test. The incumbent must also be willing to work toward a Class 1B and 2B Journeyman level Solid Waste Landfill Operator’s License.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  The incumbent must attend ADEQ approved solid waste classes each year to obtain and maintain SWLF operator’s license. The incumbent must possess excellent driving abilities, good communication skills when dealing with operators and dispatcher. Other skills include the use of radio operation and assist mechanic in roadside repair of truck. The incumbent must be able to follow written and oral directions in a precise manner.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects/controls, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to sit.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, close vision and color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
